Breakthrough Corporation

Through collaboration with The University of Tennessee Department of Exercise, Sports and Leisure Studies and the YMCA of East Tennessee, Breakthrough Corporation offers a Respite and Recreation program for adults (age 18 and older) with autism. The program recently had its two year anniversary. Held on Saturdays, this program allows individuals with autism to engage in exercise, skill building, relaxation and social interaction with peers, as well as providing respite for caregivers.

The Respite and Recreation program matches each participant one-on-one or in small groups with a trained student from the University of Tennessee. Through training, we provide the university students and other volunteers with an opportunity to build relationships with individuals with autism.

For more information about this program please contact us at
info@BreakthroughKnoxville.com or call Angie Giffin, Respite and Recreation Program Director, at (865) 566-2350. To access the Participant Application Form, please click here.

Supported Living, Personal Assistance, Day Services

Breakthrough is licensed to provide a continuum of services. All of our support and management staff are specially trained to understand the unique needs of adults with autism. If you have an adult child in need of such services, please contact the Breakthrough office in order to make a referral for our admissions committee to review.

Residential Community

For adults with autism unable to achieve their highest level of independence in an alternate living setting, plans are underway for a campus-like community. Meaningful work opportunities will be available on and off the campus, along with therapeutic, educational and recreational activities. This facility will be the center of family-oriented caring support, community involvement and professional expertise. The campus will be located in the Greater Knox County area. If you would like to make a financial or land donation, please contact the Breakthrough office at 865-247-0065 or e-mail us at: info@breakthroughknoxville.com for more information.
